"A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience & careful watchfulness; it teaches industry & thrift; above all it teaches entire trust." - Gertrude Jekyll
St. Anne’s Teaching Gardens is provided through the American Heart Association. The garden consists of seven raised planter boxes that the students built from scratch. Students placed the soil in the planter boxes, planted seeds and seedlings, watered, observed, harvested, and created smoothies from the garden. Students created signs, painted rocks and other decorations for the garden. Students also learned how to paint the outside of the boxes. The garden teaches students how to grow plants from seeds, nurture plants, harvest, and how to maintain a garden. Students from preschool to eighth grade are involved in lessons from the garden.
