Hello Students and Families,
I am very excited for another exciting and eventful year at St. Anne's. So much has happened this past year, and I can't wait to see the continued growth and learning in our students this year!
I will continue my role as Assistant Principal and work closely with Sr. Teresa and staff to establish and maintain a safe, loving, and enriching Catholic environment where students can flourish in their faith and academic knowledge and skills. We will be working extensively this year to strengthen our school program to become a model 21st Century school focused on STREAM education!
This year, I will be the lead math teacher for grades five through eight. I am looking forward to this new endeavor and working with my students to help them grow and strengthen their mathematical knowledge and skills. In all of my classes, I will be implementing blended learning strategies that utilize technology to support all types of learners and differentiate my instruction. A major goal for my students this year is to help them become successful independent learners who take responsibility for their learning and progress in school.
This year we have been blessed with new math curriculums for grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Grades Kindergarten through fifth will be using Sadlier's Math, a comprehensive core math program that fosters students’ conceptual understanding and skill development of mathematics. It also helps students strengthen their metacognitive development and learning through real-world based problem solving focusing on STEAM learning. Grades six through eight will be using Big Ideas Math. Big Ideas Math takes an exploratory approach to math instruction and learning as students use real-world scenarios to address problems and apply their learning. The program provides ample opportunities and resources for differentiation allowing me to address the needs of all my students at their level. The online components provide students with additional resources including instructional videos and interactive explorations and manipulatives. I am looking forward to utilizing both of these resources in my classroom this year!
I feel truly blessed to continue another year at St. Anne's. I have attached two fantastic videos that highlight the enormous impact technology has had on our lives and the classroom. I look forward to working with you to prepare students for the future.
